new orleans hotels VOODOO MUSIC EXPERIENCE - HOTEL GUIDE
OCT 28 / OCT 29 / OCT 30, 2011

Halloween is just around the corner and with it the annual Voodoo Music Experience will be comin' at ya!

Every year, the Voodoo Music Experience places New Orleans under a weekend-long spell of music, food, crafts and culture. The festival began in 1999 and has grown tremendously ever since, rivaling even JazzFest for attendance and big-name entertainment. For three whole days, the festival takes over City Park with two main stages and several smaller stages, not to mention countless local food and beverage vendors. Many local shops also take their goods to the fest and sell everything from clothing to jewelry, art, and everything else in between.

Tickets are now on sale for single days or weekend passes, as well as VIP all-access passes. Each day begins early with smaller local bands, and goes long into the night, closing out with the day's big-name headliner. And this year's headliners are none other than the Original Meters, once again reuniting for what promises to be an unforgettable experience.

And the fun and excitement doesn't stop there, either. Many of the city's music clubs also offer post-Voodoo, late-night concerts, so you can keep on rockin' 'til the wee hours of the morning.

City Park is located a short, 15-minute drive from the French Quarter and downtown. However, you can expect to hit congestion the closer you get to the festival site. To avoid getting stuck in traffic and possibly not being able to find a place to park, it is highly recommended you take advantage of public transportation to get to and from the fest site. The North Carrollton Branch of the Canal Streetcar Line will take you from downtown right up to the main gates of City Park in air conditioned comfort. Other public transportation options may be available as the festival date gets closer.
