This year’s event takes place Halloween weekend, from Friday, October 30 through Sunday, November 1. Three days of music, food, crafts, culture and fun. The festival began in 1999 and has grown in size ever since. For three days every year during the final weekend in October, the festival takes over City Park with two main stages and several smaller stages, plus countless local food and beverage vendors. Many local shops also take to the fest to sell everything from clothing to jewelry to artwork and everything in between. Plenty of officially licensed Voodoo-related merchandise will also be on sale on the festival grounds.

Tickets are available for single days or weekend passes, as well as VIP all-access passes. Each day begins early with smaller local bands, and goes long into the night, closing out with the big-name headliner. Many of the city’s music clubs also offer post-Voodoo, late-night concerts, so you can keep on rockin’ until the early morning.

City Park is located a short fifteen-minute drive from the French Quarter and Downtown, so getting back and forth is easy. However, if you prefer not to drive (and because of the crowds expected for the festival, you probably shouldn’t), public transportation is an attractive option. The North Carrollton branch of the Canal Street streetcar line will take you right up the gate at City Park. You can catch the Canal Street “red cars” at any major intersection along Canal and transfer when you get to North Carrollton Avenue. Shuttle service may also be available from selected locations and more information on that will be made available closer to the date.
